About Blueberry Playschool
Blueberry Playschool is a non-profit co-operative program for children 3-5 years old that has been in operation since 1983. We are governed by an Executive of volunteer parents who are voted in at the Annual General Meeting each Fall.
This is a parent volunteer based Playschool and therefore requires parent participation. Before enrolling your child, please make sure you are able and willing to commit. |
Philosophy & Goals
Our philosophy is that children learn best through play-based activities. We aim to provide a supportive and positive environment that stimulates curiosity, imagination, and independence. We believe each child is a unique individual and learns at his/her own pace; therefore, we strive to meet each child's physical, social, emotional, creative, and intellectual needs. By providing a play-oriented program, we aim to contribute to the development and positive self-esteem as well as encourage the desire to learn and explore. Providing the child with the Quality Statement below fosters these goals.
Quality Statement
Parent evaluations, current research and years of experience in delivering Playschool programs have helped to define our Quality Checklist:
- Children are happy and involved
- Staff have a caring attitude
- Centre, equipment and toys are accessible, clean, and safe
- Small groups of children participate in stimulating activities with educators
- Parent-Educator communication is promoted and parents feel welcome in the Playschool
- Sufficient play materials are available
- Outdoor play and activities take place in a well maintained play area
- Staff are good role models and have appropriate training
Our Teachers
Krystina Repchuk
Hello! My name is Krystina and I'm so excited to be a part of your playschool. I graduated from the university of Alberta with a B. Ed, with a minor in special education. I taught for about 6 years before I married my husband and we decided to start a family. We have two lovely girls who are 13 and 10 and I've stayed home to be their mom. While my youngest was at the preschool age I began teaching at her preschool. And I fell in love with this age group. I am so excited to see where this year brings us! |

My favorite part about kids is they are brutally honest all the time! When I was in Grade 11 I knew that I wanted to work with special needs children when I started my career. I went to Red Deer College completing my Rehabilitation Services diploma and Graduated in 2004. I jumped right into the work world with children and families. I loved it!! I had my son in 2006 and besides a little bit of part time childcare have been home ever since. I'm ready to get back into the work world and while I love all people - children are my passion! I'm married to a wonderful man, we have 3 boys (16/13/10) who keep us very busy, we live on an acreage and have some smaller animals. I love being outside, gardening, tackling a project, cooking, simple arts and crafts, camping, fishing and a good book. I consider myself a patient, determined person who is not afraid of a challenge and I like to live life in the solution. |
